Bruce Crawford MSP for Stirling Constituency has welcomed the news that the proposed removal of the BT phone booth in Kinlochard has been cancelled.
In a response from BT, Mr Crawford has been told that they will no longer be seeking to remove the public telephone and it will remain in place for the foreseeable future.
Mr Crawford had written on behalf of constituents who were worried about the impact that their plans may have given the high number of tourists, climbers and hill walkers who travel through the area and the poor mobile signal.
Commenting on this news, Mr Crawford said;
“This is great news for the local community who have been concerned about the changes BT wished to make.
“Given the lack of mobile signal in the area the removal of the service could have put at risk the very high number – 40,000 per year – of climbers and hill walkers who use the Ben Venue footpath.
“I am therefore glad that BT have seen sense and the phone box will remain in place.”
