MSP calls for action to tackle nuisance calls

Bruce Crawford MSP for Stirling Constituency last week attended a cross – party Parliamentary event to raise awareness of nuisance calls.

Research from Which? has shown that Scots want to see further action to tackle nuisance, a modern day menace which plague 9 in 10 Scots. Which? have found that a staggering three quarters of people claim that they discourage from answering their telephones at all because of them.

Which?’s Calling Time on Nuisance Calls campaign in Scotland has been supported by more than 19,000 people. There have been more than 65,000 uses of the Which? nuisance calls reporting tool, enabling people to complain to the regulators.

Commenting Mr Crawford

“With the vast majority of Scots wanting action to tackle nuisance calls, it is clear efforts must be re-doubled to crackdown on this modern menace.

“That is why I support the campaign. Nuisance calls affect people across my constituency, particularly those who are elderly or vulnerable. I have heard some terrible stories about the negative effects that calls can have on individuals and families.

“Constituents can report nuisance calls using Which?’s online tool at www.which.co.uk/report and can register their mobiles to the Telephone Preference Service by texting REGISTER to 80057.”
